A personal journey of color, soul, and quiet transformation
Ever since I was born, I was pulled toward anything creative — drawing, painting, singing, and dancing. I grew up in a family where art, music, and self-expression were always present. For the longest time, I thought I’d become a fashion designer. I used to sew tiny outfits for my dolls, turning scraps of fabric into dresses and pretending I was designing for a runway. I didn’t know it then, but that instinct — to design, to make, to express — would never really leave me.
But life, as it often does, took me in another direction. I chose engineering — a path rooted in logic and structure. I worked across countries (even different continents!) and industries, solving problems and building systems. It was a chapter of growth, but also one of disconnection. The more I excelled on paper, the more I missed that quiet, expressive part of myself I had left behind.
That’s when painting became more than a hobby. It became a way back — to creativity, to emotion, to the person I had always been deep down.
Milaura Studio was born from that return. The name “Milaura” is what my grandmother lovingly called me. Choosing it felt like a quiet homage — a way to carry her warmth, her artistry, and her love into this next chapter of my life.
Today, I create paintings that explore feeling, transformation, and the quiet strength found in softness. My work is inspired by my Italian roots, my love for color and movement — sometimes abstract, sometimes grounded in precise forms.
While painting is my current focus, I try not to limit myself. I’m guided by curiosity — whether it leads me to a new palette, a new technique, or an entirely different form of expression.
Thank you for being here. I’m so grateful to share this journey with you.
Con affetto,
Maria Laura
